That's it. I've finished. I am no longer an employee of Amazon. I'm still employed by the Army of course, I still have a property company that is making no money while I wait for a house to sell, I still have two kids and a half-built extension that needs a lot of attention. But I have no formal full time job any more...unless you count writing?
So I quit for reasons detailed in previous posts and I have to mention that on my last shift, on Tuesday, if I was a normal human female I'd have been brought to tears. There was a little gathering during one of our breaks where I was given gifts and nice things were said. I was totally taken by surprise and would have cried - except I save crying for the really special occasions. The top right picture above is the collection of gifts I got, which after just 4 months in the job I was bowled over by! And Top left is the prosecco I drank when I got home. I'm sad to leave because the team at Amazon really were a great bunch, but equally, I'm excited to embark on the next chapter of my life. Now I have a jobs list longer than my arm...insulate stairwell to loft, replace cracked toilet pan, sand and re-varnish bathroom floor, fix cracked tiles in the kitchen, finish decorating downstairs loo...then there's the extension. You'd get bored if I listed everything I need to do, but as an outline, its currently a brick shell and I need to make it habitable...oh, and there's the rest of the house to modernise. Job item 1: Shed loads of DIY. Got lots more jobs besides though, here's a taster: Job item 2: Tidy garden (its 1/2 an acre, this is a big job!) Job item 3: Property business stuff; accounts, remedials, maintenance etc Job item 4: Organise kids room. Job item 5: Build tree house for child #1 and bed for child #2. Think you're getting the picture here, I have lots of stuff to do. BUT I QUIT MY JOB TO WRITE! Yes, I want to shout this, loudly! And I will find time around my never ending list just as I found time when I devoted over 44 hours of my week to Amazon. I'll write, I'll edit, and I'll step up my marketing campaign...more on this one later!
