 I’m writing again. This time its proper writing, like a real life new story.
The last time I did this was, um, over a year ago. I think in September 2022 I was putting the finishing touches onto The Prince’s Nephew – the sixth book in my Gallantrian Legacy series. Since then its been editing, editing and more editing. I’m sick of editing. I want to write something new! So I am. It’s a brand new story. It’s not a sequel in the Gallantrian Legacy. It’s not even set in the Gallantrian Universe (although, I suppose, conceivably it could be). It’s a standalone (with series potential). It has new characters, it's set in a brand new world. It does have portals though, and it does have a character from the British Army that goes to a magical world…yawn. Don’t yawn! This is new and exciting. My main character isn’t an officer, she’s a recruit in basic soldier training. This book is single POV! It should be really easy to follow for even the most casual reader. There’s not even a dash of sci-fi in this one, either. Its total fantasy. It’s different, I tell you! Great, so now we’ve established that… I’m writing it right now. Not literally right now, I’m clearly blogging instead. But I’m kinda in the middle of a bit of a writing binge. I’m on holiday, or vacation if you happen to live on the wrong side of the pond. I’m away for two weeks in an all-inclusive place with food, drinks, sunshine and not much else to do besides read – or in my case, write. I’m using this time to hammer out my first draft. I aim to get the whole thing smashed in the 14 day’s I’m here. It’s day 4. I’ve written 25,000 words so far as part of my #2weeknovelchallenge. Yep, I made a hash tag, how cool am I! In the past I’ve tried to sell books by um, just selling books. Amazon must make shed loads from Author vanity, I have recently concluded. Authors on the other hand… Anyway, let’s just say selling books ain't gonna work for me without a massive marketing budget or a miracle. So I’m trying to market myself instead. Throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping some sticks has been a bit of a lifetime passion of mine. So don’t expect me to stop anytime soon. Check out my video diary below!
